In the heart of downtown Chicago, Illinois (The Loop) you will find the lovely Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel. The hotel is only minutes away from fun places to explore. Some places to visit nearby are the theater district, Millennium Park, upscale shopping, and more. The downtown Chicago hotel has an artsy vibe that is so unique. You experience it as soon as you walk through the doors and into the stylish lobby. You will find stunning pieces of artwork both inside and outside of this boutique hotel. The newly renovated urban designs of the guest rooms and amenities are what makes it stand out from the rest.
Whether business or pleasure is the reason for your trip, the hotel is perfect for every type of stay. You will experience a unique stay that has a local feel, fantastic food, and refreshing cocktails. Recently I was able to visit this chic hotel for Memorial Day Weekend. So I am sharing my thoughts about the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel.
Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel Stay
The Renaissance Hotels has properties all over the world, with around 160 locations. So if you are on the hunt for a great hotel outside of the Chicago area, definitely check them out! For this review though, we will be focusing on the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel; since that is the one where we had the pleasure of staying.
What I love most about this hotel is the history behind it in the city of Chicago. The hotel was built in 1991 and remodeled in 2005. We went to the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry and spotted our hotel in the Great Train Story exhibit. I thought that was pretty neat to see. I have been to Chicago multiple times, but I learned so much about the culture during this stay. They do a great job of making you feel like a local while you are in the city.
Generally, during hotel stays, I don’t pay attention to all of the artwork/design in the building. At the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, you can not help but admire it all. So I am sharing a few of my favorite designs that I photographed during my stay. I love the way that this hotel has added beautiful artwork pieces like these around the place. It allows you to experience the traditional Chicago culture.
The hotel has over 520 guestrooms and 40 suites available to fit everyone’s needs while booking a stay. When booking a stay at this Renaissance Hotel, you will have six different options of guest rooms. Each room is complete with marble accents that compliment the skyline view of the city’s famous architecture. While visiting the hotel, we had the pleasure of staying in the beautiful Riviere Suite. I think my favorite part about our room is the large scale windows overlooking the historic Chicago River. How cool is that?
The Riviere Suite includes a living/seating and dining area separate from the bedroom and bathroom area. The spacious layout of this suite is a total of 1000 sqft (larger than my apartment). You will feel like royalty staying in this luxurious guest room; I know that we did! Some hotel room amenities that are available include 24-hour room service, coffee maker/tea service, and more.
The relaxing ambiance of the guestrooms’ will make you feel right at home. I love how cozy the place felt while staying here. It made me not even want to leave the room. The bed is probably one of the comfiest hotel beds, ever! You will receive a great night’s sleep while staying in one of these rooms. The hospitality of the hotel staff members is worth mentioning. Every morning and evening, they stopped by to check to see if we needed anything.
You cannot go wrong by staying in any of the guest rooms that Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel has to offer. I am looking forward to being able to stay in this the suite during my next trip to Chicago.
One of my favorites part about this hotel is all of the excellent amenities that are available for guests. Check out a list of my favorites below.
The Renaissance Hotel Navigators are their spin on concierge services at each location. Each site offers a local expert who is there to help you find what you’re looking for in the city. If you want suggestions from a Chicago local, stop by the Personal Navigator station in the lounge.
Just because you are traveling doesn’t mean that you have to leave your workout routine behind. The fitness center has free weights, cardiovascular equipment, treadmills, ellipticals, bicycles, and weight machines. Everything you could ever want or need during your exercise is available here.
Rejuvenation Center & Spa Services
If you are needing to unwind after traveling, the Rejuvenation Spa is a perfect place to do so. The spa offers different packages for facials and massages. Just remember that you need to make an appointment before your session.
The indoor pool is available to all guests staying at the hotel. I love the calming ambiance of this indoor pool. The pool is not a traditional style hotel pool; it is very relaxing with a beautiful design.
So this hotel has some of the best food options around with three separate restaurants inside. You can find something to please everyone in your group. I tried out all three and man were they good!
Raised An Urban Rooftop Bar
Wanting to experience Chicago nightlife? Now you can without even leaving the hotel! The breathtaking views of the iconic bascule drawbridges that line the Chicago River; and the height of the urban rooftop location give Raised its name. You can experience the view with indoor/outdoor seating options.
The menu is by Executive Chef Daniel Perez offering American bar food and shareable plates. The twist to each menu item is what brings you back for more. The beverage list by William Nykaza compliments Chef Perez creations well with a mix of wine, beer, and cocktails. The seasonal, fresh ingredients of the cocktails make them not your average drink.
We went to Raised Rooftop Bar during the day as our last stop. We shared the Mint Chocolate Profiterole treat, and each tried one of their cocktails. My cocktail of choice was the Jenever #5, which was so good!
If you want a panoramic view of downtown Chicago with the best food, then you have to try Great Street! The menu is full of exotic local flavors to give you an authentic taste of Chicago. Also, your kids eat free which is incredible for visiting families. You can find great breakfast and lunch options for every palate at Great Street.
Staytion Market & Bar
The Staytion Market & Bar is a place to socialize in a comfortable setting. You will find some of Chicago’s best street food items on the menu with a local twist. The Staytion Bar was our first stop after unloading our bags. The Staytion Bar serves meals until 1:00 am (Thursday through Saturday), and 12:00 am on weekdays. When we arrived at the hotel, we were happy to find that they were still serving food.
We both were craving American-style food, so we went with a yummy custom burger. The drink list is superb, literally something for every taste bud. All in all, the food, service, and drinks were fantastic at this place!
A La Carte
The hotel offers the option of meal delivery from the A La Carte menu. The service is fast with tasty food/beverage options to choose from the menu. We ordered room service for breakfast two days while we were visiting. The hotel’s A La Carte room service is a great option if you want to sleep in one morning.
