A new series is starting on Style On Edge and that is the “Indy Spotlight” which will be featuring local restaurants and chic places that I love to spend time at in the Indianapolis area. I was so thrilled to feature the amazing restaurant Harry & Izzy’s as my first restaurant to put the spotlight on in Indy. You will see exactly why I have fallen in love with this beautiful restaurant that is perfect for date nights, family outings, or even just because. If you are in the Indianapolis area, I encourage you to drive to one of the two locations that are available to you and check it out now! There is also even a location in the Indianapolis airport for those of you who may be traveling through. You will love everything that Harry & Izzy’s has to offer you!

The sweet story of how two lifelong friends Harry Roth and Izzy Rosen were the inspiration behind this beautiful restaurant is one that makes it so unique. In 1957, Sam (brother of Harry) decided to leave the business of owning another local restaurant St. Elmo Steak House and it was left fully in the hands of Harry. Harry invited his good friend Izzy to partner with him on this venture to run the business of St. Elmo. The pair grew as business owners and dear friends creating what is now one of the top spots to go in the Indianapolis area. After a long friendship and success of St. Elmo Steak House, the two friends are being celebrated with the creation of Harry & Izzy’s restaurant that is an amazing representation of both personalities. What a cool story, huh? I love whenever a modern restaurant such as this one has an awesome background story as well.

Harry & Izzy’s has a menu that has a little something for everyone’s taste buds. I love going to a restaurant that everyone can agree on because it literally has it all. The menu has everything from seafood to sandwiches to pizza to steaks. Now that is my kind of restaurant! The dining experience is one for the books as well, you have the option of sitting outside on the beautiful patio, enjoying a private party room or sitting in the main dining area that is available both downstairs and upstairs overlooking the entire restaurant. Both locations are set up in a similar way so you will not lose the experience visiting one or the other.

Fun fact: Harry & Izzy’s is the first restaurant that Phillip (my boyfriend) & I went to when we first visited the city of Indianapolis to find out where we were going to live up here. So this restaurant also has a special place in both of our hearts as well. We love this restaurant and it is one of our favorite spots to go to in town. We recently went to the Northside Indy location near our home and I am so happy to share our experience with you today! Our reservation was set at 7:30 pm and we arrived a little bit earlier to make sure we were on time. Instead of making us wait, the friendly hostess immediately seated us right away. The staff at Harry & Izzy’s is so friendly and goes out of their way to ensure that their guests have an amazing experience each time they visit. You seriously feel like royalty when dining at Harry & Izzy’s each time.

After we were seated, we were immediately introduced to our waiter who was so polite and helpful in making menu decisions. We started our night off with a glass of Chardonnay wine for myself and one of Phillip’s favorite beer selections. We ordered two appetizers with our drink options as well. We ordered the World Famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail (side note: You cannot visit this place without experiencing the intense flavor of the shrimp cocktail, you will never be the same after trying it lol) and we also ordered Phillip’s favorite Spicy Asian Shrimp. The shrimp cocktail really is a big deal at both St. Elmo and Harry & Izzy’s restaurants because it is what they are known for. Harry actually used to wear long ties while working at St. Elmo, after his wife got tired of him coming home with cocktail sauce all over his long ties each night…he then only wore bow ties to avoid the issue and still enjoying his amazing cocktail sauce. So the entire staff now also wears bow ties as a part of celebrating the personality of Harry.

After devouring our appetizers (yes, we ate it all) we then ordered our main entrees of the evening. We both could not resist but to order a yummy steak option that was on the menu that night. I ordered the 8 oz. filet mignon to be cooked medium well with blue cheese butter on top and Phillip ordered the same thing but Izzy Style which includes a pepper encrusted, pan seared, orange brandy butter sauce on top as well. The side options are always more than enough to share, so we split the redskin mashed potatoes as are side item.

The food was brought to us so quickly, I was very impressed with the timing and how each entree was prepared. The menu items at Harry & Izzy’s are always so appealing to the eye, which is very important in this industry. We were so full after eating our meals and thoroughly enjoyed everything that was prepared for us. The experience was more than lovely and we had the best time thanks to the devoted staff at Harry & Izzy’s restaurant.

I am sure that after reading all of this and seeing the images from our recent outing at Harry & Izzy’s that you are probably drooling right now. Well no worries my friend because I have included a link HERE for you to click on to book your reservation right now online. You will not regret setting up a reservation at this amazing restaurant. Whether you are visiting the area for the first time or have lived in the Indianapolis area for years, this restaurant was made for everyone to enjoy. I hope that you have just as lovely of an experience as we did, I have a good feeling that you will fall in love with it as well! Enjoy yourself!
